In 2016 company JAVYS, a. s. carried out three transports of spent nuclear fuel and participated in five transports of fresh nuclear fuel.

     Last year, company JAVYS, a. s. carried out three transports of spent nuclear fuel from the reactor units of SE, a. s. and transported 232 fuel assemblies with spent nuclear fuel to the Interim Spent Fuel Storage of JAVYS, a. s. in Jaslovské Bohunice. There were two transports of spent nuclear fuel from the units of V2 nuclear power plant and one from the power plant in Mochovce. Transport and storage of spent nuclear fuel is one of the crucial activities of company JAVYS, a. s.

      Company JAVYS a. s. is the owner and operator of the Interim Spent Fuel Storage and holder of permits, which are issued by regulatory authorities, required by legislation and related regulations and has qualified personnel and technical means necessary to perform this activity. During the transport of spent nuclear fuel, conditions of valid permits for handling and transport of spent nuclear fuel issued by the Nuclear Regulatory Authority of the Slovak Republic were complied with. Inspectors from this authority and other regulatory authorities performed direct surveillance of this transport. Transports were carried out in cooperation with bodies of the Ministries of Economy, Transport and Interior.
     In addition, company JAVYS, a. s. participated in five transports of fresh nuclear fuel to currently operated reactor units of SE, a.s. in 2016, while 4 of these were road transports and one was carried out by rail.

In the Slovak Republic, Jadrová a vyraďovacia spoločnosť, a. s. (JAVYS) provides activities in the area of back end of the nuclear energy. Its key activities include decommissioning of A1 and V1 nuclear power plants, radioactive waste management, spent nuclear fuel management, management of institutional radioactive waste and collected radioactive materials in the territory of the Slovak Republic. In all its activities, company JAVYS, a. s. pays particular attention to safety, quality and environment protection.
