In the first half of 2018 no fire or work-related accident was recorded or registered in company JAVYS, a.s.

In 2018 in the area of Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) and Fire Protection company JAVYS, a. s. continues in its positive trend already seen in the previous period. In the first half of 2018 there was no work-related accident, no occupational disease and no fire recorded in the company.

Prevention of accidents and occupational diseases at hazardous workplaces was ensured by inspection activities and by provision of appropriate personal protective equipment in accordance with established operational procedures and risk assessments.

One of the main indicators, providing a complex picture of the Occupational Health & Safety in the company is the indicator of work-related accident rate. In the area of Occupational Health & Safety the main objective is to discover potential hazards and risks, to monitor the findings and eliminate them to a maximum extent. In order to improve the working conditions, productivity and quality of work, the company pays particular attention to Occupational Health & Safety. It includes mostly applying of preventive measures, regular assessments of Occupational Health & Safety status and involvement of employees in the system.

Nuclear Safety
In the first half of 2018 all requirements resulting from the Slovak legislation and requirements of the regulatory authorities for nuclear safety, regarding all nuclear facilities operated by company JAVYS, a.s. on sites of Jaslovské Bohunice and Mochovce, were met.
In the first half of 2018 the inspectors from the Nuclear Regulatory Authority of the Slovak Republic (NRA SR) performed 25 inspections in company JAVYS, a.s. These were aiming at:

  • verification/review of activities relating to RAW management,
  • checking of compliance with nuclear safety conditions and requirements of the regulators in the course of nuclear facilities decommissioning,
  • inspection relating to ensuring the reliable functioning of the physical protection system,
  • inspection in the area of emergency preparedness,
  • and inspection of compliance of implementation of modification projects with documentation of nuclear facilities.

Inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Nuclear Regulatory Authority of the Slovak Republic performed one inspection in company JAVYS, a.s., aiming at nuclear materials in the Interim Spent Fuel Storage (ISFS).

In the Slovak Republic, Jadrová a vyraďovacia spoločnosť, a. s. (JAVYS) provides activities in the area of back end of the nuclear energy. Its key activities include decommissioning of A1 and V1 nuclear power plants, radioactive waste management, spent nuclear fuel management, management of institutional radioactive waste and collected radioactive materials in the territory of the Slovak Republic. In all its activities, company JAVYS, a. s. pays particular attention to safety, quality and environment protection.
