Slovakia, through its state-owned company Jadrová a vyraďovacia spoločnosť (hereinafter referred to as “JAVYS”), continued with decommissioning of two V1 nuclear power plant units in Jaslovské Bohunice. By the end of October this year, we spent € 385 million on decommissioning of nuclear power plant units from the Bohunice International Decommissioning Support Fund (BIDSF). "A total of 24 Grant Agreements have been signed so far, € 647 million from the BIDSF fund and € 26 million from the Slovak Energy and Innovation Agency (SIEA) have been allocated," the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic (MH) informed in its regular report.

In the framework of decommissioning of Bohunice nuclear power plant units, this year, company JAVYS, a.s., has been implementing the second stage. "The company has been implementing activities, which aimed at obtaining the licenses from relevant administration authorities," the Ministry of Economy informed. The subject matter of decommissioning in the second stage is the decommissioning of buildings of the nuclear part of power plant, i.e. the reactor, steam generator, main reactor building, auxiliary operations building and remaining auxiliary buildings, which had not been decommissioned in the first stage of decommissioning. Apart from other, this year, company JAVYS, a.s. successfully completed the demolition of V1 NPP cooling towers.

In Slovakia, two V1 NPP units in Jaslovské Bohunice are being decommissioned under the accession treaties after accessing the European Union. The first unit was shut down at the end of 2006 and the second one at the end of 2008. Decommissioning is implemented in two stages with a completion date in 2025. Currently, the second stage is in progress. Total costs for pre-decommissioning activities and decommissioning of the V1 nuclear power plant amount to € 1.239 billion.
