Manufacturing of Fibre-Reinforced Concrete Containers
Manufacturing of fibre-reinforced concrete containers is an important part of low level RAW management. Maximum safety has to be ensured at RAW management that is why fibre-concrete containers have special characteristics. Their manufacturing is based on input raw materials of high quality and prescribed procedure.
The container consists of a body, a lid and two plugs. It has a cubic shape with external dimensions of 1.7 × 1.7 × 1.7 m and its internal volume, enabling the treatment of radioactive waste or its storage, is 3 m3. It is stored in maximum three layers.
Fibre-reinforced concrete containers are transported from the manufacture to the nuclear facilities of Radioactive Waste Processing and Treatment Technology in Jaslovské Bohunice or to the Liquid Radioactive Waste Final Treatment Facility in Mochovce, where the solid or liquid RAW is cemented into these containers.
