Pre-decommissioning Stage At the time of the final shutdown of the A1 NPP, the required procedures and equipment to secure all necessary decommissioning activities were not yet in place. In Czechoslovakia, at that time, there was no applicable legislation specifying the frames of the nuclear facilities decommissioning or technical conditions for implementation of such activities.

The Bituminization Line Nuclear Facility can be found at Jaslovské Bohunice, in the compound of the A1 power plant, which is currently being decommissioned. The liquid RAW from the V1 and V2 NPPs is transported here using transport containers and special transport vehicles, deploying their load at a special receptacle at the bituminization line.
The facility is the main center of processing technologies, the final product of which is a fiber-reinforced concrete container.
