 RAW Incineration Facility PS 45
  • Modern two-stage incineration plant
  • Commissioned: February 2022
  • Automated incineration of solid and liquid RAW under a permanently maintained negative pressure regime
    (significant volume and mass reduction).
  • Incineration product: ash and fly ash.

Main components:

  • Rotary furnace (I. stage thermal treatment)
  • thermal reactor (II. stage thermal treatment)
  • Dosing of RAW: belt conveyor, screw conveyors, injection
  • Refractory pipe, flue gas exchanger, filtration and purification system, continuous emissions measurement, ventilation stack.

Four stages of flue gas purification:

  • Neutrec® technology,
  • Fabric sleeve filter,
  • Dioxin filter,
Securing fabric sleeve filter (efficiency of 99.99%).

 


 

RAW Incineration Facility PS 06

  • Modified: 2012
  • Objectives of modification: minimizing total volume of secondary waste, increasing the efficiency of the off-gas filtration process, modification of the incinerator allowing the incineration of spent resin.
  • PS 06 is used for treatment of solid and liquid combustible waste containing alfa contamination (while this type of waste is not treated in PS 45 to prevent cross-contamination).

  • Performance: 8-10 200 dm3 drums/hour
  • Max. weight of drum: 450kg
 
 

Metallic RAW Melting Facility

  • Physical process - electric current is used to inductively melt material in a ceramic crucible.
  • Product: Melt (ingot), Slag (impurities, waste), Furnace gases (aerosols)
  • Furnace output 1,600 kw
  • Capacity of 2 tonnes of metal – 5 pcs. of ingots
  • Ingot weight - approximately 400 kg
 
 

Cementation

  • Applied to solid or solidified RAW in drums and/or concrete containers
  • Output of Line 1-2 concrete container per shift
  • Discontinuous operation
 

Facility for Processing of used HVAC filters

  • Crushing into fractions with dimension of 40 mm x 40 mm in a dual rotor crusher.
  • Separation of magnetic and aluminium fragments from the crushed material (placed into 200 litre drums).
  • The non-magnetic parts are transferred to a second crusher, where they are fragmented to 20 mm x 20 mm fractions. Secondary separation - for aluminium-containing fractions.
  • Feeding and mixing of chemicals to the crushed material.
  • Product is further processed by high pressure compacting or incineration in Bohunice RAW Treatment Facility.
 

Workstation for processing used electrical cables

  • Manual decontamination,
  • Sorting,
  • Separation of external insulation,
  • Crushing and separation from recyclable non-ferrous metals.
  • Aim: maximization of free release of metallic material into the environment.
  • The resulting solid RAW is further processed by high-pressure compacting or incineration in Bohunice RAW Treatment Facility.
