V1 NPP decommissioning was subject to Environmental Impact Assessment in the years 2006-2007 with the aim of selecting the optimum alternative of its decommissioning. As a result of the assessment, the Immediate Decommissioning Alternative was selected. This activity was launched by the approving decision of UJD SR No. 400/2011 which takes into account the conditions set in the Final Statement of the Ministry of Environment SR. When the EIA process documentation was compiled, detailed information on technical issues in respect to the individual activities were lacking and in view of some changes in the progress of certain activities JAVYS a.s. has decided, upon consultation of the Ministry of Environment SR, to subject the 2nd stage of V1 NPP decommissioning to a new Environmental Impact Assessment. The Final Statement of the Ministry of Environment SR resulting from this process will serve as basis for the decision of UJD SR on the implementation of the 2nd stage of V1 NPP decommissioning.
