Technical University of Košice (TUKE), within the framework of scientific cooperation programme between TUKE and selected Slovak companies dealing with waste management, organized a lecture provided by company JAVYS, a.s. for its students, focused on the System of Radioactive Waste Management in the Slovak Republic.

Upon request of the Technical University in Košice, the delegated representative of Jadrová a vyraďovacia spoločnosť, a.s. (JAVYS, a.s.) - Mr. Roman Jakubec – gave a two-hour presentation of company JAVYS, a.s. on Radioactive Waste (RAW) Management in the Slovak Republic to students of the Faculty of Materials, Metallurgy and Recycling of TUKE.

During the lecture, he made students familiar with the system of radioactive waste management and technological facilities for RAW management in the Slovak Republic. After an introductory presentation, there was an intense discussion between the lecturer and students with lots of interesting questions raised. In this discussion the students were interested in details and specific issues of the radioactive waste management system and at the same time, they expressed their interest in participating in an excursion to JAVYS, a.s. in Jaslovské Bohunice, which could include a site visit to specific processing technological systems and facilities intended for RAW management.

Cooperation between company JAVYS, a.s. and TUKE looks promising also for the future, as many students already have extensive knowledge in the field of metallurgy and waste recycling and, after completing their studies, they could become external co-workers or full-time employees in JAVYS, a.s.
