Operation and decommissioning of nuclear facilities of company JAVYS, a. s., were safe and reliable in the first half-year of 2019 based on assessment of operational safety indicators group.
In the first half-year of 2019 all technological facilities of company JAVYS, a. s., were operated in line with relevant Limits & Conditions for safe operation, while no event subject to notification to regulatory authorities occurred in the nuclear facilities. Company pays special attention also to minor safety events and by adopting the corrective measures it prevents the occurrence of serious operational events.
In the area of Occupational Health & Safety no work-related accident of employees of company JAVYS, a.s. was registered in the first half-year of 2019. In the area of fire protection there was no fire in any of the nuclear facilities operated by company JAVYS, a.s. For the purposes of preparation of emergency response organization units 232 trainings, drills and exercises of the civil defence expert units were performed in nuclear facilities of company JAVYS, a.s.
Nuclear Regulatory Authority of the Slovak Republic (NRA SR) issued 34 decisions for company JAVYS, a.s. and NRA SR inspectors performed 26 inspections, particularly aiming at the following:
- checking of nuclear safety conditions compliance,
- activities connected with management of radioactive waste (RAW),
- processes connected with disposal of radioactive waste (RAW) at the National Radwaste Repository,
- compliance with nuclear safety conditions and requirements of the regulators for transport of RAW and nuclear materials.
In the first half-year of 2019 in company JAVYS inspectors from the Nuclear Regulatory Authority of the Slovak Republic, IAEA and EURATOM performed one inspection focused on record-keeping and inspection of nuclear materials in the Interim Spent Fuel Storage.
In the field of management of radioactive waste, company JAVYS, a. s., apart from other activities, disposed of 176 fibre-concrete containers with processed and subsequently conditioned RAW at the National Radwaste Repository. Outcomes of the safety assessment for the first half-year of 2019 have been comparable to other nuclear facilities in Europe and have demonstrated high level of expert and professional work of service and managing personnel.
