According to the current legislation and rules Jadrová a vyraďovacia spoločnosť,a.s. (JAVYS) bas asked by the Regional Authority for Public Health in Košice to identify and secure the radioactive material in the Slovak Technical Museum Košice. Experts of JAVYS carried out professional activities on 24.03.2014. After inspection at the museum it was established that there are 6 pcs cylindrical and 4 pcs of globular casings with used emitters. After identification and documentation all the casing with emitters were safely transported and stored at the certified repository of Jadrová a vyraďovacia spoločnosť, a. s. in Jaslovské Bohunice. Presently the emitters are radiologically identified on the special equipment of the company. The case is under investigation by the police of the Slovak Republic.
Jadrová a vyraďovacia spoločnosť, a. s. is engaged in activities aimed at decommissioning of nuclear installations and the management of radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel. It is also a qualified organization for the management of the abandoned emitters, radioactive waste of unknown origin and radioactive materials.
