After signing the Contract, company JAVYS, a. s., and Consortium Westinghouse exchanged the contract documents to the V1 NPP decommissioning project.

After signing the Contract, company JAVYS, a. s., and Consortium Westinghouse in the presence of the representative of the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic and representatives of the US Embassy exchanged the contract documents to one of the most crucial projects of the V1 nuclear power plant (V1 NPP) decommissioning, marking the commencement of the project implementation activities. This project, covering activities such as dismantling and fragmentation of large components and structures of the primary circuit, emptying and dismantling of the RH waste storage including management of radioactive waste, will be implemented by consortium of companies Westinghouse Electric Spain and Westinghouse Electric Sweden along with other Slovak partners. Works are to be implemented for a period of the upcoming five (5) years. Contract concluded between Jadrová a vyraďovacia spoločnosť, a.s. and the leader of the Consortium is an outcome of the public tender and the project is co-financed from the European funds by means of the Bohunice International Decommissioning Support Fund (BIDSF) administered by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Tendered contract price is 2.6 million Euros lower than the originally assumed project price.

Consortium Westinghouse has extensive experience in decommissioning of pressurized water reactors, which were also used in the V1 NPP and will be utilizing its 25 years of experience in planning, licensing of dismantling and decontamination, designing of decontamination and fragmentation facilities, dismantling of reactor and reactor internals or fragmentation.

Since companies Westinghouse Electric Spain and Westinghouse Electric Sweden are not subject to restructuring under the Title 11 of the United States Code (Bankruptcy Code) against Westinghouse Electric Company, LLC (USA), currently ongoing processes in the USA have no negative impact on the activities of the Consortium in the European market.

In the Slovak Republic, Jadrová a vyraďovacia spoločnosť, a. s. (JAVYS) provides activities in the area of back end of the nuclear energy. Its key activities include decommissioning of A1 and V1 nuclear power plants, radioactive waste management, spent nuclear fuel management, management of institutional radioactive waste and collected radioactive materials in the territory of the Slovak Republic.
