As the decommissioning process of the A1 and V1 nuclear power plants continues, metallic wastes are produced in the controlled area and also outside of it. Once the conditions for release from administrative control are met, the metals are returned to the recycling process. In 2023, company JAVYS handed over almost 1,700 tonnes of metallic waste for recycling.

Of the total volume, the largest quantity of metallic waste - up to 1,171.7 tonnes - was the iron scrap. The second waste type with the largest volume, which was recycled, was stainless steel with a quantity of 281 tonnes.

Recycling of as much waste as possible, minimization of its production and environment protection are among the main goals of company JAVYS, a.s. Funds received by company JAVYS, a.s. from the recycling process are re-invested into the decommissioning process of nuclear facilities. This results in saving of funds from the state budget and, in case of the V1 NPP decommissioning, saving of funds from the European Union.
