JAVYS signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Italian state-owned company SOGIN, which is the national leader in the field of nuclear facilities decommissioning and radioactive waste management. The signing ceremony took place at the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Rome, attended by the Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to Italy, H.E. Karla Wursterová and the Slovak Honorary Consul for the Apulia region, Mr. Salvatore Chionno.
The signing of the memorandum establishes a strategic framework for long-term institutional and technical cooperation between JAVYS and SOGIN. The partnership focuses primarily on the decommissioning of nuclear facilities, radioactive waste management, and activities related to the back-end of the nuclear fuel cycle.

The mutual exchange of experience and know-how will help further level up our technical capabilities in the safe decommissioning of nuclear facilities and management of radioactive waste,” said Peter Gerhart, Chairman of the Board of Directors of JAVYS, a.s.
SOGIN is responsible for the decommissioning of Italian nuclear power plants and for the comprehensive management of radioactive waste, including waste from industrial, research, and nuclear medicine activities. At the same time, it actively promotes international cooperation through technical services, project management, training, and the exchange of know-how and expertise in the areas of safety and radiation protection.
Signing of the memorandum confirms JAVYS’s ambition to strengthen its position in the European nuclear energy back-end sector and to actively participate in international technical cooperation.
